Hike in Madeira Canyon

Saturday, August 20, 2016

Our daughter, son-in-law, hubby and myself did a 1.8 mile hike on an "easy" trail. Was not a walk in the park. I described it and then zap the post vanished. So this is a much shortened account.
Here is us starting off.

As you can see this was not flat and had several rocky areas to cross. Hubby has a bad leg and balance issues and I have bone on bone on one knee so back down we went.
Now there are two more choices up stream or down. We went down stream and thought it would be fairly smooth and not too far as it was to exit at the next picnic area. There were some interesting fungi and lichens. The different tree bark was also worth a good look. One tree was very smooth and had a slight bluish tinge on the trunk.

I saw several hawks and a humming bird but was unable to photograph them through the trees. We had a few sprinkles before we reached the picnic grounds. Tired but we all made it.
