Here I go again

Thursday, August 18, 2016

It's funny how sometimes it takes a crisis to get you to get out of your head and just do what needs to be done. I've been struggling to get back on track for quite a while now. I've tried several different plans, challenges, means of support and often too many things at once. To add to my difficulties, I suffered a knee injury several months ago, which I tried to ignore. Now that I am limited on what I can currently do physically and have many stressors going on in my personal life right now (including my mom in the hospital and a teenage daughter whose going through her first break-up), I'm finally learning to focus on what I can do, instead of what I can't. I've started using SparkCoach again, which helps give my Spark time structure and encourages me to track. I'm faithfully doing my PT exercises and tracking those instead of sulking that I can't get on my elliptical or do my DVD workouts. I've also asked my PT how I can slowly start working a little more walking into my days. When I get overwhelmed with my to-do list, I'm asking for help. None of us likes to be in crisis mode, but sometimes I think it's just the thing to make us re-focus on what's important.

Sometimes it IS the crisis things that brings it all into focus for us! I like the "focusing on what I can do and not what I can't" thing......................I could learn a thing or two from you!

Why do we find it so very difficult to ask/require others to help us ... especially when so much of what we do is ultimately helping them...

Think maybe that deep down we think they should be volunteering and not having to be asked?!!

Something that sometimes helps is changing our pronoun usage...
from singular self (I, me, mine)
    to plural group (we, our)...

Just a thought. It has been known to help!
And it sounds like you are getting back in the groove.. and on your healthyier life-style path!!

Good for you for taking a stressful situation and making the most of it! You should be proud.
