Who makes these changes?

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

I was watching "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" and one of the characters said something that I had to look up. It's from a poem by Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi and it struck me deeply. The gap between what we want and what we get. Here it is:

I shoot an arrow right.
It lands left.
I ride after a deer and find myself
Chased by a hog.
I plot to get what I want
And end up in prison.
I dig pits to trap others
And fall in.

I should be suspicious
Of what I want.
