I've been sort of in introvert mode lately, so I wanted to drop in and say hi and catch you all up on what I've been up to.

Reading: I've been voraciously consuming as much Hugh Howey as I can. If you like dystopian future stories he's your man. Character driven drama with a big fat dose of hope. emoticon
Working Out: (Duh.) I had the Adventure Run last week and a crabby lady nearly ruined it for me as she shot me dirty looks the whole night BUT I did this fun obstacle water carry. They gave us 3 options: carry a half full 20 lb water jug around a circle, carry a full 40 lb water jug around a circle, or carry 2 full 40 lb water jugs (80 lbs total) tied to a bar with rope around a circle on your shoulders. Guess which option I chose?! Surprisingly, it wasn't the weight that was the hard part, it was the fact that the jugs swayed as you move, throwing off your balance! Either way I did it and I got 6 tickets for it and I'm super proud of myself. emoticon
Food: Like I said in my status update, June and July were not kind to me on the scale, and it was most definitely my fault. Potato chips, chocolate chips, ice cream and peanut butter (along with stress) were my downfall. This week I didn't buy any of them except peanut butter. I got some no sugar added fudgsicles, made healthy banana bread, homemade grape jello (grape juice and gelatin), roasted butternut squash to reheat for breakfast, and will be making baklava protein bars later this week so I have healthy snacks. emoticon
Fun: The Hubs and I saw Star Trek yesterday. It was okay, but not great. It was a matinee so we didn't spend much. We got gelatis afterwards, which are water ice layered with frozen custard, which was delicious in the high 90s heat we've been having.
Not Fun: Saturday was the 4th anniversary of my father's death. I didn't do much about it except post remembrance on Facebook. I saw a butterfly this morning on my way to work, which is supposed to mean someone is watching over you from the afterlife. If that's true, I hope he knows how much I miss him. emoticon
Work: I was very busy at work last week. We're trying to completely renovate the showroom before the holiday season, so we've moved showcases and relocated my boss's desk from the prime spot in the front of the store to the back of the showroom so we can use the brightly lit space for product. It's working out well, but we're still waiting for the electrician and a carpenter to do some work so we can hire a painter. The room is currently moss green, yucky beige and gold and we'll be transitioning to a much more sophisticated slate blue and black. Hopefully it will give us a much more elegant vibe come the holiday season, which is our busy season. emoticon
What's Coming Up: Bingley gets a photoshoot on September 4th so we'll have a professional family portrait soon! Then on September 14th we're road tripping to Chicago to visit with my cousin Susan, who's the closest thing I have to a sister. We're bringing Bingley with us so it's gonna be an interesting car ride. (It's about 14 hours.) Might be tough to eat healthy but I'm going to do my best!

Sounds like you've been very productive even though you've been in introvert mode. I've been sort of doing the same thing with keeping busy, but haven't been very social on here. Told myself to get on here before it's been two weeks, which it might be LOL. Anyway, sounds like you're doing great. I think the first step is not buying the things you know you binge on like the chocolate chips. Once you find your groove it will be easier to stay in your calorie range again. Good luck to you!

That obstacle water carry sounds awesome! Way to go!!

Water ice...the last time I was in hospital, they gave me Luigi's Water Ice, cherry flavor. I LOVE this stuff!! Yeah, I know it's not "real water ice" as DH reminds me. I like it because 1) very flavorful! 2) already portioned out for you! 3) you can't eat it fast or else you get brain freeze!!

My cardiologist was VERY happy with me yesterday! Since May 16th, I've lost 15 pounds! I broke down my weight loss goals into 5 pound increments, which are more manageable for me, drinking more water. I bought some watermelon yesterday, and thought of you! Soooo yummy!! Going to get more on Saturday when we go grocery shopping.

The premio jewelry store in town is all gleaming wood paneling and a deep pile cream carpet - plush. Subdued lighting, except for spots on the cases. Not aware of any colors, it's neutral.

Your road trip to Chicago sounds like it's going to be fun!!

So sorry to hear of your dad's death. I love mine 3 years ago. Always hard to have that anniversary come. I did better at the store today too emoticon emoticon

I can definitely say you've been busy, and that a lot of the time, can keep our hand out of the cookie jar!! emoticon I made healthier banana bread yesterday too, and I don't know why, but every time I make banana bread, it's dry in the middle when I stick a toothpick in it, but after it cools and is ready to eat, it's like dough in the middle!! Why is that?! The only thing that I could figure out, is that I use one too many over-ripe bananas?! Or that they're a little different in size? Have you ever had that problem?! Have a really good Tuesday!! Oh, and you are allowed a treat every now and then, with you being on maintenance and looking so slim and beautiful. Just not often!! emoticon Bummer! emoticon

Sounds like you've been having a good time (for the most part). At least you're getting yourself back into a healthy eating routine. Great job on the water carry! Good to see things are well for you.

PS: your dad is totally watching over you. I bet he's proud of all your achievements and hard work emoticon
