Savoring Wonderful Memories

Monday, August 15, 2016

The time has come for us to sell the airplane.

DH has Alzheimer's, and is not safe to fly any more. I have my license and have been flying for over 30 years, but I don't know airplane mechanics well enough to service my own plane, so I am willing to sell.

We have had wonderful times with that plane!

I SO enjoy some of our air plane experience stories. We have quite a number of them.

Like when I landed the plane on a pasture in Mexico and when we got out, the bull chased us. We had a heck of a time getting back to the plane. the farmer and we were laughing so hard, with tears running down our cheeks and our feet moving as fast as we could that the bull decided we were all nuts and just strutted away to the furthest part of the pasture!

Another great time was when we flew down to Mexico to a private air plane only entrance to a hotel. We stayed there during the solar eclipse of the sun and met many other private plane owners. So much fun that we stayed an extra four days.

Yes, there are wonderful memories, some scary, some just the most fun you could imagine!

Like when we flew up here to the Sequim area to find a place to live. We were ready to leave California, and when we landed we found out from our realtor our property in CA had sold while we were in the air. The buyer demanded a 30 day close, so we were going to be homeless if we didn't find the right place.

We were flying toward the airport when I looked down and saw this property. I said to Ted, wouldn't it be nice to see THAT place on the ground?! He agreed. We had no idea it was up for sale, but it just FELT right.

So when we landed and met with the realtor, I told him about seeing this place. He got out his map and his lap top, smiled and said "Let's GO!"

The property was on its last three days of a real estate contract, and the seller needed a 30 day close.

We bought it that day, went back to CA and began packing.

We were here on the 30th day, deliriously happy. This is the perfect location for us.

Yes, this is an end to an era, but it is okay. Sad, but okay.

Time to write a new chapter in our lives. emoticon

I second the notion that you should write down some (or most) of your life adventures for your descendants to enjoy and get to know you. Or record them on video...

Wow! I'm totally impressed! You've certainly LIVED a lot of living! Putting some of those things down in writing leaves some stories & memories for others to appreciate.

One of the things I miss the most now that my mother & grandmother & most of their generations are gone, is the STORIES that they had lived. Now there is no one to share or pass those on...
