I'm one of those crazy people

Thursday, August 11, 2016

The swelling has gone down tremendously in my foot and the bruising is going away as well. It's really frustrating but I know there is nothing I can do but let it heal.

Last night I went for a walk down the block. It was harder than I expected so I see I'm not ready. Tuesday night I went to my new gym and swam laps for 30 minutes. I wasn't going very fast and I don't really have great technique so I figured it wasn't much of a workout. My whole purpose was just to get my body moving. When I got out of the pool though my legs were shaking. lol. I guess it was more of a workout than I thought.

Speaking of gyms...I'm now one of those crazy people who has a membership to two gyms. But let me explain. Ok so I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a couple of years and I love it. First of all, it's cheap. Only $21 a month. They also keep it maintained. I rarely see machines broken for more than a few days. There's also a great selection of cardio machines at all locations and even when it's crowded, I can find one to use. Most importantly, these gyms are everywhere, they are open 24 hours and I can use any location I want. There is one three minutes from my job and another three minutes from my house. That makes it very convenient and we all know the more convenient it is to exercise, the more likely we are to do it. I can even exercise at a Planet Fitness in another town.

The downside is they don't offer any classes and they don't have a pool. Well my company started this thing where they will pay a portion of our membership to a local chain of gyms. All these gyms have pools, hot tubs and saunas and offer fitness classes. My cost is only $22 a month. How could I turn this down??!!!

So yeah, I'm a member of two gyms and still pay for dance fit classes once or twice a week. I've become one of those people. A crazy. lol.

But I figure what better financial investment than in my health? Right? Right. I just never thought I would be this person. So weird.

Have a great day all!

Glad you're healing.Water exercises should be great for that as well! Funny that you're posting this! I really want to start swimming and miss the sauna at my old gym so I'm considering going back. For a bit I may become one of those crazy ppl 2!

It's too bad you can't get everything you want from one gym, but I understand why you have kept a membership to both.

Swimming can be a real workout even when you don't feel like you're working that hard. I think it's because you are in the water and can't feel yourself sweat. I love swimming, but the lap swim times and my available times don't play nice together.

I hope your foot continues to heal well.
