Hoop Reboot: Week 1

And lo, I have survived Week 1 of the Hoop Reboot project. I mentioned that my SparkBuddy, Jodi talked me into doing this online hoop reboot an instructor was offering for the month of August. Jodi's either being a really good friend and trying to hoop me back into shape, or she's taking a roundabout way of killing me. I'm still trying to decide. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt.

Week 1: Fun and Done

I survived, but it was a narrow escape at times. I forgot how much cardio hooping with full intention could be. I haven't done hoop drills in a long time and I don't think I've ever done a hoop workout that was this challenging or organized. Here's a sample of a daily workout:

Not exactly easing my way back in...

I'll admit, I overdid it at the beginning of the week. Gasping for breath is NOT a sign of a good workout. I finally wised up and started wearing a heart rate monitor, so I could keep myself in check.

Cardio should be your friend...

As sweaty, red-faced, gasping for breath that I've been this week, I have to admit that I'm glad I'm doing this.

Fun? Yes, I think so.

I have to work every Saturday this month, popping popcorn for our Summer at the Movies series. Fortunately, churches have high ceilings, so...

I took my hoop to practice drills in between batches.

Speaking of work, here's the set we built for the series.

Cute :)

Anyway, I promised to post my weekly progress, so this is it. This is a starting point. Hooping did so much to help me lose that 40+ lbs last time and I had a lot of fun doing it. I think it's definitely worth re-visiting, even though I have to start at a slower pace. Let's get that 40+ off again, shall we? I'm thankful for SparkBuddies who give us a nudge. Jodi and I texted each other every morning, to make sure we were on it. Accountability will go a long way.

Well, I need to wrap this up. It's been an exceptionally long day and I still need to do some dishes. Why are there always dishes to be done? Always. But I will leave you with two pictures of a perfectly good food truck that Bubba and I saw put out for the trash the other day. Now how often can you say that?

Wish I could've seen the little driver. Bet they were super cute.

They even had a tip jar. Adorable. Well done, Neighbor Parents.

Spark ON, Brave Sparkers!!

on to week two...
