Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge Day 7

Sunday, August 07, 2016

Today's challenge is to make a game plan for a situation that hits your sugar cravings:

The very worst situation for me is a party or something that I'M giving and I am really "good" through the servings of things (tiny sliver or this or that or whatever) and then during clean-up, the dams break and I binge.

So... game plan. Kinda stuck on this. One plan might be to have a more sizable, budgeted for, portion, focus on enjoying it, and then deciding the kitchen is CLOSED while I clean up. Or I could have DH put away the food and I'd do the dishes, because we usually do this the opposite way. Or... BOTH. Yeah, both. Gonna try that next time.

In terms of cravings, etc., Day 6. I went out to lunch after the art fair. My son's GF had a slice of turtle cheesecake. I decided I was going to have rice pudding (yeah... was going to give in) but they didn't have any left, so I went without. Then on the ride home I started REALLY craving a DQ mini salted caramel blizzard. I could virtually taste from the last time I had it. There were 3 DQs that I could have accessed between her apartment and my home and one route where I wouldn't have accessed any. I took THAT one. I ate a fresh peach to curb my craving. It worked well.

I DID have one chocolate chip cookie with a decaf espresso after dinner last night. I waited 45 minutes to see if the craving went away, but decided I could afford it. It almost tasted like I was spooning sugar into my mouth. Going to try for dessert alternatives again today - don't want the regular sugar-containing stuff.

Getting there - baby steps!

Way to go on taking the alternate route to help you stay away from DQ. All these things you're doing will add up big over time. The sugar addiction is one of the toughest to break....you've got this though.
