Day 53 of 70, Into Week 8 and 75% through the summer challenge

Sunday, July 31, 2016

Here I am in week 8 of 10 already, and I admit, I'm starting to lose steam. Mind you, there is no shortage of steam outside - another hot and humid day .. ick. My zucchinis love it, and are generously providing veggies for my dinner, but I'm starting to get sick of them.
To try to get myself out of this slump, I'm going to fire up the hibachi and cook some skewered veggies and fish. I think the process of getting the wood charcoal to the right temp will take my mind off this weary feeling I have with my diet.
I have been keeping track of my overall progress since last June 2015, so just over a year now. I'm down a total of 15 pounds, with 3 inches off my waist - or at least, what i think is my waist :-) I'm very much an apple shape so 'waistline' measuring is a bit of a shadow art.
My goal was to lose about 40 pounds, which is about 25% of my starting weight. I also wanted to lose proportional amounts in inches off my waist, hips, thighs and belly. My progress so far is 38% of my goal in pounds, with my measurements hitting targets between 25-50%, depending on what we're talking about. My midsection is what needs to lose the most, but that is not how weight loss works, so of course, I've made more progress on my thighs and hips, which weren't that big to begin with. Oh well, it all has to come off anyways, so I'll take it as it comes.
My short-term goal is to hit that 40% mark in progress on my measurement goals since i'm so close already. That means losing another pound and shaving just a quarter inch off my waist and hips. The belly needs to shrink a bit more than an inch to hit my target, which is not likely to happen in sync with the other metrics. Hopefully, it will shrink a bit and bring me closer to finding my waist!
There is still 25% left to go in this Summer challenge, so onward and upward!
Have a great Week 8, fellow BLC-ers!
