"Your A$$ is Huge"

Friday, July 29, 2016

Got to admit, I'm still burning from my co-worker's comment on Monday: "I love you, but your a$$ is huge in those shorts," she had said while giggling.

Here were my many internal reactions:

Horrified -- OMG my butt is so big! Everyone is staring with judgment.
Insulted -- Did you seriously just say that to me? Out loud?
Insulting -- Glass houses, bit@$. Y'all just threw the first stone.
Self-destructive -- I will now starve myself while exercising 12 hours a day.
Vengeful yet constructive -- You think I have a huge a$$? Fine. I'm going to focus on eating healthy meals and getting my workouts in between now and September 1st, and when you see my fit body this school year, you will wish you'd spent more time working on your own health than on criticizing my body.

Yes, I'm going the vengeful-yet-constructive route. I'm cooking up healthy recipes from The Spark Solution, working out almost daily, and tracking everything. Is it bad that my motivation comes from revenge? Probably... But(t) I am feeling more motivated than I have in years.

So perhaps I will even thank my colleague come September for inspiring me to become as fit and healthy as I used to be. I'm sure she'll be tickled pink to know that she has such inspirational powers...maybe she'll find her own vengeful-yet-constructive motivation as well.

Turn the negative into a positive? Hope so. In the meantime, I'm gritting my teeth and working hard. Huge a$$ and all.

I have a hard time believing that your backside is large. I just do. Your coworker is a jerk.

Wonder how she reacts when someone says something to her in an insensitive way. We never know where our motivation can come from but good for you for forging full speed ahead and definitely turning it into a positive.

Wow. Not really sure if I would have responded to her the same way you did it. Why does she care so much how you look? I wore pants and my cousin's wife keep starring at my booty. I said "jealous about something? Take a picture it will last longer."

I'm not real sure how I would have reacted to that comment. I know it wouldn't have been pretty though. I will say don't let other people's hurtful and ignorant words change your opinion of yourself.

No sorry, this is bullying in the work place. Its personal and said with intent to hurt. I'd speak to my manager. It's made me mad on your behalf.

Wow that was an uncalled-for nasty remark from her. As if "I love you" excuses it. Sadly, too many people these days have no filter at all. Good for you for taking the high road. 👍🏻🙂

What a rude, insensitive, immature co-worker. Good luck losing the weight and finding a new co-worker.
    You can do it!!
