A holding pattern, but not a setback!

Friday, July 29, 2016

Ah, sometimes things happen all at the same time.

-I developed/exasperated Plantar Fasciitis during that 10k and have been told to stay off my feet for a few weeks (that was 3 weeks ago, so hopefully...with new shoes...I'll be running again soon).
-My husband has a new position within his company, which is great, but he had to get up to speed quickly before a deal went through. That means going in at 5am, he's still home at 6, but then he has to sit and read indentures after the kids go to bed. I've finished a few books that I wanted to read, which is nice, but he's fried. That will be over on Monday. Once the deal goes through he'll be able to learn the position at a reasonable pace and go into work at a more reasonable time.
-My microwave died. That isn't a big deal, but some how the microwave thing turned into redoing half the kitchen. I still have a quarter of my stuff shoved into random cabinets while I reorganize into the new cabinetry. Oh, and I STILL do not have a working microwave. I have plans to buy one this weekend. It's really hard to make fresh food without a kitchen.
-My youngest developed an ear infection over the past weekend so I've spent the past week with him crying/sleeping on me while the antibiotics work. I'm exhausted.

Another way of looking at it is that I'm incredibly blessed that John got this opportunity, that our situation enables us to shift work hours suddenly, that we can afford an impromptu kitchen reconfiguration let alone a new microwave, and most importantly, that my baby is otherwise healthy and we have access to medicine and medical care.

Of course, it has derailed my exercise and diet. However, despite more than a few pizza nights, I've not really gained much of the weight back! I was almost afraid to step on the scale because I've felt so bloated lately from not enough fiber, too much coffee, and stress.

So my house is a complete disorganized mess, my kitchen is in disarray, my toddler is just starting to let me put him down again (fever is gone), and I don't have a fresh thing in my fridge...but the end is near and I don't feel discouraged because I didn't use this as an excuse to eat everything in sight. I didn't even feel like going nuts with the delivery and that is a major improvement.

I will really have to be on point and I'll have to switch the treadmill for the eliptical for cardio, but I can still reach my goal for this Challenge!
