The end of the cactus and so on
Tuesday, July 26, 2016
The prickly pear cactus is removed from the flower bed and resides in the bottom of my compost bin that comes with my participation in the Denver Composts program. The last of the tiny thorns (I think it was the last) was removed from my thigh where it went in through my sweat pants the other day.
I was out at 8:00 this morning, pulling weeds in my yard and in the alley behind my neighbor's house and watering another neighbor's gardens and lawn (they're away) for over 2 hours, By 10:00 it was getting really hot out there, so I came inside to do my jazzercize for 30 minutes and then get to work on clearing out "stuff" I no longer need or want.. Incredibly time consuming, but by the end of the summer I hope to have it done all over the house as long as I do something toward it every day.
Tomorrow I will spend some time working with the kittens and maybe do some transportation for a friend who has to go for a needle biopsy. She has a 3 year old and may need someone to help with him and may need to be driven home. It is nice to be retired and to easily be able to offer my assistance for things like this.
I made this delicious concoction today with zucchini and tomatoes from my garden and a Mexican (green) onion and a can of kidney beans and some Cajun spices. High fiber, low cal and YUMMY.
