July 23, 2016 VOLUNTEER WORK
Words can be spoken by anyone. Anyone can recite something that sounds really great. Anyone can "talk a good game" as they say. However, we need to be willing to walk the talk. We need to be following through with what we are telling others to do. When we say we are believers and followers of Christ, we need to show it. We show it in our work for God. We show it when we get out in the community as Jesus did and help others. We need to examine our lives and determine if we are walking the talk or merely talking.
1 John 3:19 "Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God." (NLT)
Dear Lord, You tell us that our actions will show if we are truly Your followers. Help us to see the need in our jobs, in our homes and in our communities. Help us to step out and make a difference. We know we are to show others we belong to You and do as Jesus did while He was here on earth. Help us to give our time, our talents and our treasures to others who are in need. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Our actions should show we are followers of Christ.
People will know our hearts by our actions.
Words are easy to say. Godly actions take effort and selfless commitment.
We should get out of our comfort zone and help others as Jesus did.
We are called to live, love and serve as Christ did.
1 Corinthians 11:1 "And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ." (NLT)
Focus: Our work for the Lord is more than mere talk. It is about taking action and helping others.
