How to get away with falling off

Thursday, July 14, 2016

I have made it to my first big milestone. I am now in double figures. 99.8kg. It has taken 7 months when I thought it would only take a few weeks but that only seems to make the victory all the sweeter. And here is my promise to myself - I will NEVER go into triple figures again.

I have been struggling with motivation over this last week. I haven't been to any of my exercise classes or gone for my walks. I have binge watched "Heroes" on lightbox with my son because we were part way through and found out that they were taking it off and we wanted to watch it all. (We didn't manage to watch series 4) I have never binge watched TV before.

This behaviour is completely against everything SP teach but I feel that it might have done me some good. I have had a complete rest for a few days. We have eaten from the freezer topped up with stuff from the local shop. I haven't tracked my food, I haven't exercised but I feel refreshed and rested. The series has gone, so that temptation is no-longer there and I'm not going to waste money by buying the DVD which we will watch only once.

I woke up this morning and felt that my motivation was really low. So I measured myself. I haven't done that for quite a while. Every single body measurement is smaller, even ones like my arms and neck which I thought hadn't changed. I really wish I had taken measurements when I first started, I'd love to actually know how much bulk I have lost.

I was so sure that I would have put on weight this week because of my inactive behaviour, but was delighted to find that I had busted my first big target.

Why? Why did I get away with it? Well it is because of all my hard work before. We ate from the freezer which was packed with healthy homemade meals frozen from left overs. We snacked on healthy food because I don't have unhealthy snacks in the house. We did have some chocolate but when it was divided 3 ways the kids (woops teens) got 2 squares each and I got one - because that is the size bars we have now. I still logged onto SP everyday. I think that helps. When I went to the local shop no sodas or trash found its way into my basket, I am sure that is because I was still getting my daily top up from my SPARK friends and SP.

I am thinking of taking the rest of the week of from exercise - I have housework and chores to catch up on - but go straight back to meal planning and tracking. My DH has been in Australia all week and is coming home tonight and it is one of the teens birthdays this weekend. So I want to do some serious family time. As long as I DO start up with the exercise on Monday I suspect the rest may have done more good than harm.

I love that you have promised yourself not to get back to triple figures, it really doesn't matter if you tell everyone else if you haven't made a deal with yourself first xx
