I'm SUPPOSE to be in the right mindset for weight loss

Took this quiz: https://sparkpeo.hs.llnwd.net/e1/res

"Congratulations! You have all the pieces in place to start your weight-loss efforts. To you, losing weight isn't just about getting thinner; it's about taking care of your health for the long term. You have realistic expectations about the effort that goes into lasting weight loss, and you understand that losing weight in a healthy way involves permanent changes to your diet and activity levels. You don't get caught up in attaining ''perfection'' and recognize that there will be setbacks and slip-ups along your path. However, it seems that you've got a healthy enough mindset that those little things won't stop you in your overall efforts to lose weight and get healthy. So what are you waiting for? Start tracking your food, workouts, and weight on SparkPeople. You can do this!"

There were a few questions that didn't give the actual answer I had. The 1 asked how much sugary drinks I consume in a day. I don't drink ANY! ONCE in a blue moon I have an alcoholic drink, but even then it's not very much. The only option that came close to my answer was 80% water consumption. Uhm..... try 100% except for 1 or 2 days in the week, & then it's like 4 oz of alcohol. My meds won't allow me to drink more than that.

The other question was #5 about being a planner. Yes, I plan & plan & plan, BUT... my plans always fall apart. It's not that I don't like to plan, or that I just don't plan ahead, I do, but outside forces seem to put a monkey wrench in those plans. Like yesterday, I had a plan, but hubby decided to take me out on a birthday date. So, am I suppose to say, "NO, I don't want to go on a date with you for my birthday." NOT HARDLY! LOL! So we ate out at the restaurant our son is a bartender at. I'm not going to turn that down. I'm just not, even if I had something healthy planned for dinner.

Then #11, which bests describes your current lifestyle. There were very many choices there. I have plenty of time to exercise, I have stresses in my life, but the don't interfere with having time to exercise, & I have recently undergone a major life change.... heart issues & a complete hysterectomy. I'm on several meds that I know hinder my ability to work out like I used to. I also have a hip problem that's making it difficult to work out, which is stressing me to no end.

#13 asks how do you feel about your body? I don't like my body, but that's NOT why I'm trying to lose weight. I'm trying to lose weight for my health but that's only 1/2 the answer to the 1st response to this question. The other 1/2 of the response is "I love my body", but I honestly can't say that about myself. I want to, but I can't. I don't HATE my body, it's just not my friend right now. MY answer isn't there. I dislike my body b/c it's falling apart so I want/NEED to lose weight.

With tomorrow being my birthday AND a holiday, I DO have a plan. I will have my protein shake for breakfast, then lunch will be a fresh veggie platter, mixed fresh fruit, healthier crackers & hummus, with a few slices of summer sausage. Evening meal is a small brisket fixed in our crock pot (cooking on low all day), a healthier potato salad, corn on the cob, & a taco salad (I have no clue what's in it, my sis is bringing that). BUT, the kids are bringing unhealthy snacky foods to have throughout the day & the 1 son & DIL have made a dessert for my birthday. I know I can't beat myself up if I don't stick close to my plan, but for me, once I stray, it's hard to get back on track.

Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful holiday tomorrow! Have fun, but be safe!

Great blog. It's good to look over our choices and reflect on them. One thing I'd like to mention is to remove the word "always". Your plans do not "always" fall apart. Some times they do, but I bet some times you are very successful. So keep planning; keep trying; keep learning; keep doing the best you can.
