800 calorie blood sugar diet - Day 6

Can I be clear here, I am not recommending this diet I am just trying it and reporting on how I get on. I have seen my doctor and will be seeing him again in 6 weeks. I will monitor myself regularly. If you want to follow such a strict diet you should talk to your doctor. Also my husband is going to keep a close eye on me for any signs of hypo. Fasting blood glucose 125
Weight: 77.9 kg or 171.6 lbs - lost 3 lbs - not weighing today
Waist measurement 42 inches (was 44)
Insulin given last night 37 units - kept it the same as I decided too early to reduce
Calories yesterday: 810

No breakfast today as it is Sunday so it will be a brunch then a main meal with snacks.

Brunch: Cheesy baked beans Calories 260

The hardest thing about this diet is the organising. If I followed his weeks menu plans exactly it would be easy but I don't always like what he suggests e.g. salmon or prawns, or know I cannot get what he suggests in the shops, so I have to fiddle around making the days calories tally and getting the right nutrients. I have just spent an hour doing just that. So I am ready with week 2 menu plan and I have to go through the recipes and check fridge and cupboards for ingredients or add to shopping list, Pretty well got it sorted and trying new things all the time, not just repeating last weeks menu.

Evening blood glucose 75 - a bit low but will be eating in half an hour

Dinner: pork loin with apples and shallots, served with leeks Calories 430

Snack 2 slices of ham Calories 60

Total Calories 700

Will add extra snack before bed - had a square of 75% dark chocolate Calories 50

    Crazy, yes it will be easy when I have completed 4 weeks of the diet which includes all the recipes. I am printing them out as I go along and will save them for future use. I can dip in and out as I please as leave out anything I didn't like, such as the beetroot falafels. emoticon

    Janet552 Not so tough as the calories come from low gi carbs like chickpeas and lentils which keep you full. Also allows good fats like olive oil and avocado which also keep you full. I have only had a couple of hunger twinges but dieting is a lot more than the food we eat, it is also about our emotions and sometimes you just want something even if you are not hungry. Managed to resist so far.
