Keeping Busy and Crafting

Thursday, June 30, 2016

Many of you know that I am now retired. Last year, a kind friend invited me to take an empty table at a Holiday Craft Show that she organizes. It was a lot of fun! THIS year, she sent me a contract! So I figured I better get busy!

I have a fascination with vintage buttons, and my first crafts were made from them:

These are what I call button people. They're made from vinyage buttons, wire, and wood beads for the head, hands, and feet.

This is a button pin. I hand make the heart shaped foundation, then sew each button by hand. The buttons are vintage mother of pearl buttons.

Then I started thinking about what else I could make!

Felt with button eyes, all hand sewn.

A woodland fairy house, with a button door knob and window, all hand sewn.

An angel, made from felt, wire, with 3 buttons down her front!

Felt matrushka dolls, with buttons, all hand sewn. The one on the right still needs to be stuffed with fiberfill, that's why she's so flat!

Felt mitten, with felt holly leaves and a button berry, all hand sewn.

So I HAVE been busy, between crafting and reading and riding my recumbent bike after a brief respite. The craft show is the first weekend in November, so I still have more time to make stuff!! I'm having a blast!
