OK So I'm having issues

Friday, June 24, 2016

I gained weight at my last weigh-in, but my right leg was swollen nearly twice its size. Yes, that's my surgical side. It's been 9 months since my reconstructive foot surgery. I thought I was doing really well.

At my monthly check-in, my dr was so concerned that I might have a blood clot that he sent me over to the hospital, and had me wait for the results. He said if they found one they'd admit me. Luckily?? they did not find a clot, but it didn't explain the swelling. Luckily!! I had an appointment with my ortho a few days later. He ordered x-rays and immediately knew what caused it. Apparently I have a huge nail in my ankle, that goes nearly to my knee. Well I have pain in my shin at the end of the nail, and he says it's because it's like a stress fracture (but it's not broken). He said that he can remove the nail if it really bothers me, since my bones have healed. He says that right now it's just a nuisance. I think it's a little more than that, but I think I can live with it for a little while. I just need to find out what would be involved to remove it.

So anyway, back to eating. It seems like I can't eat much which is great, but my nurse & dietician said that I'm not eating often enough. But if I'm not hungry? I have to force myself to eat? REALLY?? I HAVE to eat every 2 hours? Even when I'm not hungry??

I know that I'm supposed to eat protein at every meal, but I really don't want to force myself to eat!

You'll lose better if you eat every couple of hours. Who says you have to eat more than a few bites?
