Shame on me...

Monday, June 20, 2016

I just read my blogs that go back to when I first started using this site in 2010. I look at the blog I did last July and remember how good I was doing keeping my sugar down because I was keeping track of what I ate. The cushings did progress and it was beyond my eating habits or exercise but the tumor had complete control. So here I am today, in remission, no issues with diabetes - no insulin, no pills or anything but still "overweight" "obese" "plus size". That's not good. The closer I get to 50 - 3 more years, the more I want to NOT look it so I know what I need to do. No more excuses of being sick. I've always simply used Nike's slogan of "Just do it." There really isn't much more to talk about until I actually do it. This extra "person" has got to go!

Well weight loss is all, ok 98%, what you eat and 2% exercise. Let's say you want to burn off a pound a week with exercise. Let's make it a brisk walk. Just how much walking is that? A brisk walk will burn about 300 calories per hour. So about 12 hours of walking to get to 3600 calories (there are 3500 in a pound of fat).

So walk for about 90 minutes a day, everyday, and in a week you will loose a pound of body fat. Heaven forbid if you want to loose 2 pounds a week, that is a three hour walk everyday.

However, don't quit. Changing what you eat is incredibly important. Eating low carb reduces blood sugar swings, and hunger. You can loose two pounds a week by eating low carb, which makes eating fewer calories possible with far less hunger. I'm inviting you to a low carb team.

I think it takes courage to not make excuses anymore. Many of us struggle with the same. Best of luck to you!
