Recording a no scale victory

Monday, June 13, 2016

Yesterday evening I managed to "run" - well jog really - for 10 minutes. This is a major achievement for me because when I first started in January I could only do a minute and then I wouldn't be able to breath in an alarming and scarey way. I ran for 10 minutes but it wasn't my lungs which were limiting me it was my muscles and bulk. This is new.

My lung function has improved. This is showing up on my lung function test from my dr too. I need my inhailor less often now, I don't even need it at all for strength training anymore.

WOW You've come so far! I'd love to be a runner/jogger but it simply hurts too much at this weight. Maybe it's something I can work towards as I lose more weight. Good for you though. You're doing great!

This is exactly how it worked for me! I went from barely being able to run 5 minutes at a time to running nearly 2 miles without stopping -- and I know that I will continue to make progress toward my goals if I keep at it AND it can only get easier as I continue to lose weight.

Don't forget to do a proper warm up & cool down. I always do a 5 minute walk to warm up and try to do a 10 - 15 minute stationary bike to cool down. I need to get better about incorporating a stretching routine, but there was a stretching routine for runners posted on SP that I saved and have been meaning to start doing. I've had minor aches and pains here and there but have been fortunate thus far to avoid injury -- which would seriously derail workout time.

Keep it up! You are doing GREAT!

    Congrats to your success!
Being able to run 10 minutes is a sign of good cardiovascular fitness, now you can enjoy being active without being out of breath.

That's awesome! My first husband and my kids had that issue in high school. They did sports enough to kinda work out of it. So I know it can be done. Congratulations on the improvement!
