Small Acts of Kindness do make a difference!

I have been a mother and an educator for a long time and have stressed to my child, grandchild, and students that acts of kindness can be very powerful . . . well, today I was a recipient of one of those acts of kindness. Amazing! I have been in a pretty deep and dark rut for quite some time and I am slowing climbing my way out of it . . . . although much slower that I would like.
I have been avoiding going to the gym like the plague because I don't want the people to see how I have "let myself go." Yes, my insecurities have been getting the best of me. The baby steps and self talk have gotten me to the gym in the late evenings a couple times this week. Well, today I decided to go to the gym in the morning . . . .which means......MORE people at the gym!!!!!
Nervous and regretting my decision, I stepped through the doors of the gym hoping to go unnoticed and head straight for elliptical machine. That was not to be
. One of the awesome trainers, from across the room, greeted me with, "welcome back, sweetie, good to see you." Wow. Powerful! I smiled, waved, made eye contact with others, and happily made my way to the elliptical that totally kicked my butt . . . but, it was the best butt kicking in a long time!!
Long story long, the trainer greeted me at 8am this morning and now it is after 10pm and I am still feeling great because of her small act of kindness. Some may shrug it off as it is part of her job to greet members but I needed to hear her words at that exact moment. Now, I am not out of that darn rut, but I am climbing a little faster! Heck, I'm going back to the gym tomorrow morning too!
The simplest things can go along way!!!
