So without doing any of the traditional "diet" thing, I have managed to have three very good days in a row making decent food choices and staying away from poor ones. This, in my opinion, is the optimal way to get this weight loss thing done. Falling into good habits of making the best choice possible, keeping away from eating other than scheduled meals or snacks, and not beating oneself up when we slip a bit. Or, when we absolutely feel we need to have it, having just a smidgeon of it. It boils down, I believe, into being mindful. Of not falling into old habits of eating everything in sight, out of sheer boredom or frustration (or both), and only after the fact remembering "oh, I was trying to be good today."
It is working. One day at a time.
