Day 511/ Possibly day 38 of 100/ Keeping it real

Saturday, June 04, 2016

Why 'possibly day 38 of 100'? Well, I've managed to somehow injure my left thigh. The pain in my right side I can probably put up with, but I don't know what I've done to my thigh, and don't want to risk hurting myself even more. So if I step on the treadmill and it still is hurting when I walk/run this morning, I'm going to put my 100 days and my C25K on hold and wait till after I see the doctor on Wednesday. I hate to put it on hold, but I can't risk injuring myself worse and getting sidelined.

Have to take youngest DD to the doctor on Monday. She injured her heel at summer camp. They couldn't figure out what it was, there was no swelling or bruising, she just limped. I noticed when she came up to hug me, she didn't run, she fast hobbled along. I just hope it is nothing serious.

Keeping it real. I know my last blog was full of enthusiasm and what all I'm going to be doing. But I may have sounded more like I was going to do it all right now than I intended. Yes, I plan on doing all of it, but not 'right now', lol. I plan on getting out the sewing machine today and taking a look a it and seeing what I remember about it. If I don't remember enough then that will be my task for the week; figuring out how the sewing machine works again. If I do remember then I've got a purse/bag project to do during the next week.

I've also got my youngest DD's crochet poncho going but have not touched it in days. My goal is to crochet for at least 15 minutes a day. That way if I'm just not feeling like it, I don't have to do it for long, but if I'm feeling it I can keep going longer. I've got 4 clouds to make to go on the end of rainbow scarves for a friend, sewing on the eyes is a pain, but they look so cute.

The bread does not take very long to make, you just have to remember to check on it every now and then. Takes maybe 5 minutes. So I'm just jumping in with that. I was making bread several times a week and then stopped when my mood dropped. So I know I can do that, it doesn't take much. DH wants me to make sandwich bread like what they make at Scholtzsky's, which I think is a rye sourdough, not sure. But first I have to get good at the basic sourdough loaf. So we'll see, it's going to take a while, my loaves are too dense right now.

The Etsy store and all that jazz is for the future, if I get really got at this stuff. DH has high hopes for me, but I think that is asking too much. I may get there, I may not. We'll see. I'm excited for what the future may hold, I'm willing to put myself 100% out there to give it a try and do my best for once, and I usually hold myself back, and don't give that 100%. I've always been afraid of getting too invested and then failing. But this time I know I'm going to fail, it is inevitable. But I'm going to pick myself right back up and try all over again.

You are wise to back off and make sure your thigh is ok before making things worse. I hope your daughter's heel is ok, too!

Sorry you are in pain, glad you have a doctor appointment coming up. Hope your daughter's injury is minor. Good that she is being seen right away. Good plan on the 15 minutes a day. You will get alot done in that time. emoticon

Sorry for the pain. You are right, the pain is an indicator that something isn't quite right. Don't push through it, but don't quit- just back of to "comfortably uncomfortable". The old saying No pain, no gain has made a lot of money for pharmacy companies- LOL

Don't discount having a good physical therapist. They can teach us how to exercise without pain, and give us the tools to stretch properly. My knees hurt, but it is because my quads and hamstring were so tight. I am making progress, but it is so slow!

Thank goodness for Google. I sew so infrequently I can never remember how to thread the machine or how to wind the bobbin- LOL But my Grandkids love their jammies!

I would love to see the rainbow scarves.

Have a great day and enjoy!

I had knee pain a while ago because I forgot to stretch after my running and I had to give it a rest a few days. Hope your dd feels better too! Sewing and crocheting sound like good distraction activities. You can do it! Don't give up! :)

Great job on your commitment! Sorry for the injuries, great for having projects to do during your recovery! Try some upper body strength training with hand weights to get some exercise. YouTube and Sparkpeople have some exercises, and able to do them
