Relationships, blogs and happiness.

Friday, June 03, 2016

I listened to a video blog recently where the topic was staying aware of yourself and others within your circle of friends and family. She was recently surprised by the actions of a good friend of hers. Sadly, the signs were there and she didn't recognize them until it was too late. Tough situation to be in. She listened to her heart, not her head. Exactly what most of us usually do and should be able to. When you have people that you feel you can be open and honest with, that you can depend on, that you love, they may get a pass when things start to get a bit weird. After all, we should be able to expect the best from them. We know they can count on us and we do the same. A lot of passive aggressive behavior went on and before it could be addressed properly, it exploded in her face and the friendship was lost.

Relationships can be funny. We don't always recognize the actions of a user. Someone who draws us in only to cast us aside like a dirty ashtray once they get what they want. And if it involves others and impacts families, that's just collateral damage. Sad.

Be kind to people. Treat others how you would want to be treated. If you find yourself in a toxic relationship keep aware. Protect your heart. We all have the power to make someone smile today. Smile at a stranger. Offer your assistance. Let the lady with the crying baby cut in front of you. I always want to save the world and make everything ok for everybody and I just cannot do that. But maybe I can put a smile on someone's face. And maybe they'll do the same.
