I am a proud Mama today. My darling Daughter, who moved up to Minneapolis with her BF and her cat, have all been living with me since July of last year. She and her BF both got jobs at this AWESOME food co-op, that has benefits, 401K programs, profit sharing, and a million more opportunities to see that kids do well in life. Couldn't like this place more.
Yesterday, my DD ran upstairs (they live downstairs!!) and I met her in the livingroom. She applied for a job in the Marketing Dept. of this Co-op, and was hired for the position yesterday. The awesome part of this, is that her college degree (one of them anyway) is in Art. I NEVER thought an Art degree would be worth anything, as I did art all my life, and thought it was a tough field to get into. She got into it. She will be doing graphic design, designing displays, setting up parties for vendors, and painting signs. She is brilliant, so talented, and they are lucky to have her. She has SO much more talent then I ever did, and I am over the moon about her opportunity.
So is she. We went through my closet yesterday, and she took about 15 blazers that I have not worn in a LONG time. I don't really need those kinds of clothes anymore, because I just do not care enough to get dressed up every day. Sometimes, it's fun, and I have PLENTY of clothes for that. I loved handing things off to my now Corporate Daughter.
This is the first "real" job she has had. She has been a check-out person at this company, and has NOT utilized all her talents. I applaud this company, Lakewinds, Co-op, so much, for hiring from within, for caring about employees, for finding their worth, and for being a great steward of Planet Earth.
All is right with the world today. My 24-year-old got her dream job, and Mom is THRILLED!!
