Finding the right thing!

I was getting so confused trying to figure out the right way to lose weight. Should I count calories? should I go low carb? or maybe low fat? should I eat natural foods? There are so many different options! So, what was I to do? Well, I've tried lots of different things. I joined SP Feb 2015 and counted calories and lost 36 lbs! Wow, I had found what works for me...or so I thought! Fast forward to Jan 2016, and I had gained 8 lbs and figured I better get back to faithfully counting calories. Well, guess what? It just didn't work the same for me that time!!! Why not, when it was so easy before! So in Feb 2016 I started going to a nutritionist who focuses more on clean eating. I did that for a while and there again it just wasn't working for me! So, I went back to counting calories, and then I tried one thing after the other! Nothing seemed to be working and I couldn't for the life of me figure out the problem. Then about two weeks ago it's like a light went off in my head! It wasn't the plans that weren't working....IT WAS ME! I wasn't working! I didn't have my mindset! The right frame of mind plays such a big part in this!

I really believe that all of these things work. But I also believe that we need to find what is right for us at that time in our life. I may be doing the "eating natural" thing right now, but 3 months down the road I may be counting calories again. I think as long as we learn good habits from whatever plan we chose then we will succeed (not without backslides) but we will defiantly succeed!!!

It's really hard trying to lose weight but one thing is for sure...I may not be tracking my food on SP, but I will always be a faithful SP user. Without the support on here, it's no telling how much I would weigh! So thanks!!!!

    I like counting calories. It helps me realize what's in the foods that I am eating. I believe if program worked for you once, you can make it do the same this time. Don't give up and keep repeating the behavior's that work for you.

    emoticon I agree completely with you! We all have to figure out what works for us. I say as long as it is healthy, I support everyone on whatever way of eating they choose. Sometimes yes we do have to change things up and see if that gets the weight loss going again. Wishing you all the best and hope you figure out what works best for you!

    DWILK67 I think you have hit the nail on the head. I am counting calories because that is what has always worked for me but my daughter is going low carbs. Not having much luck though. So it is the mind set that makes it work.
