Little sticks and Kevin does Mexico

Friday, May 20, 2016

Was in Monterrey, Mexico all week. Exercised two days (yay!!), ate like a horse for four (crap!). Looong days. Breakfast 7:30 (with client), meetings, one-on-one, coaching, etc. scheduled back-to-back all day. Straight from client office to dinner; eat, talk (work, mainly), drink wine. Back at hotel around midnight.

Rinse and repeat. Four days. I'm beat. Schedules like that should count as some sort of exercise routine. Scales said I only gained a pound. We'll see.

So, we ate one night at a Spanish restaurant (think paella, not tamales). Food was great; I lived in Spain for a few years, and miss authentic paella and tortilla espanola. Both are bad choices for my eating, but both tasted damned good. No regrets, seriously yummy.

Had to visit the men's room while there (remember, these are 4-6 hour marathon dinners). Pulled up to the urinal, and here's what was in front of me:

Loosely translated, "If your sword is short, come closer." Was laughing so hard I almost couldn't do my business...! I went back to the table chuckling, grabbing my phone and headed back to take the picture; my client asked "where are you going?" I told him "back to the bathroom." Had some explaining to do upon my return... lots of comments about why I needed my camera in the john, what I was taking a picture of, etc. The women were enjoying the embarrasment, asking "So, did you move closer or not??"

My granddaughter is 12 years old, and is a fan of the Pixar movie "Up." She likes it when I take pictures of Kevin (the bird in the movie) at places I travel. Here's Kevin's latest on-scene locations:

Then, back home...

Toodles,
