I HAVE ANKLES!!!!

OMG.... I shouted at the occupational therapists today...do you have any idea how many years I have not seen my ankles?
Truely....I have not gotten weird on you...(well.....?).....LOL
When you have lymphedema, having normal limbs is a rarity.
Okay...lets back up a bit. April 11th I headed to the hospital with cellulitis, except I went to the city and within an hour I knew why they kept me. The fever of 102 was nothing....I was anemic, white blood count indicated major infection, kidney function was in trouble, and the list went on.
I was pumped full of antibiotics and only remember bits and pieces of the time in Abbott hospital. Then I was transferred to the Hennepin County medical center - burn and wound unit.
The CT scan revealed a layer of infection within my engorged leg. Much discussion went on between the Internists and the Surgeons. Surgery would NOT be happening, which is good because I probably would have blead to death.
I'm thankful for everyone that cared for me and I am grateful to be alive to......hey, did you hear?
I HAVE ANKLES!!!!!
I'm currently in rehab getting a workout and receiving wound care. The wound shrunk 1 centimeters since Saturday. It's now 13 cm X 18 cm.
I feel like the shell of the person that I was. The hospital said that I was 560# when I arrived, so engorged with fluid. Friday the thirteenth, I arrived here in a new body and lost 165# of fluid.
Can't picture it? I have a picture of my lymphatic leg (amongst my pictures) except the left side was three times bigger.
HEY.....HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS??? ANNIE HAS ANKLES!!!!
