Am I Eating Enough?

Monday, May 16, 2016

So I had a great day yesterday. I was right at 1100 calories. They were quality calories too. Protein and veggies. I didn't workout, but 200+ of those calories were from a delicious, generous, glass of Moscato. Today, I felt blah.... low on energy, kind of nauseous, and had a terrible headache. I couldn't help but wonder if this was from sugar detoxing--- for several weeks (about 8) I have been binging on sugary junk food snacks. Yesterday was the first day I did not have any junk food (unless you count the Moscato- OMG the sugar!). OR I am wondering if I felt bad because I need more than 1100 calories to function properly? I didn't like the way I felt today. I didn't even go to CrossFit because I felt weak. I'd like to stay under 1200 calories until I get my weightloss rolling. I know my metabolism is shot due to my history of yo yo dieting, and just like the former Biggest Loser contestants I need to eat less than a normal person in order to maintain my weight, let alone lose weight. I guess I will play it by ear.... I'm under 1200 again tonight and hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

I find that the day after I indulge in wine I have very little energy. My exercise it off, and I'm just not me. That does seem like low calories. Women shouldn't go under 1200.

Sugar detoxing can make you feel crappy, but if you feel weak, add an extra 150 calorie high nutrient snack to see if you feel better. On days you work out you will need extra calories to repair your muscles as well. Feel better!

1200 calories is usually considered the minimum you need to eat to get proper nutrition, if you are not exercising, increased activity will increase the need for more calories. Empty calories like the wine take away from needed nutrients, I am not saying elimate them but if I am including them I usually exercise more. Mostly my calories are 1500-1800. Unless I have had a big day doing heavy work in the barn. I know the feeling you have the next day when I shovel out the barn for 6-8 hours and haven't eaten enough.

I'm following this post because I had this exact convo with DH last night. I'm hoping it's just because we haven't eaten enough and are detoxing.

Kind of low calorie intake. Take it slow for the long haul.
