Saturday I allowed myself a guilty pleasure. I took a nap. Not a close my eyes and catnap in the chair but a real true lie down in bed with the drapes closed and ceiling fan on nap.
For some people that may not be a big deal and others may think that hour would have been better spent working out. Increasing my sleep is one of my goals for May as the 5 hours of sleep per night that I get is not enough to allow my body time to fight infection or heal itself. Lack of sleep also causes a build up of cortisol in the system.
I have promised myself a nap since the start of the new year but sadly something (like working full time and a puppy) has kept that from happening. And I am one who keeps going even if I am dragging.
When I woke up, I was so refreshed and energized and I wondered....why is it that naps are ok for babies and the elderly but not for others?
Why do we feel guilty for doing something that is healthy for our bodies, calorie free, & fat free?
I took a nap and I hope to take another......hopefully soon.
