May 7, 2016 LIFE AND DEATH

No one truly understands why people have to die at a certain time in their lives. Some die at an early age while others live to be over 100 years old. Some die of diseases while others die in an accident. Some die due to the actions of others. No one really knows why we have to deal with death. But God tells us death is a part of life. And each person's birth and death is according to His plan. Death is not something we like to talk about or deal with but God says there is a time to be born and a time to die.

Ecclesiastes 3:2a "A time to be born and a time to die." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know Your timing is perfect in all things. You know when every person will be born. You know when every person will die. You have a reason for us to be born at the time we are born and a reason for us to die at an appointed time. And You have a purpose for us during the time in between. Remind us daily You have everything under control and You always know what is best. We put our life, and death, in Your hands. And we are so grateful for Your perfect plans. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Our time on earth is short. We need to treat others every day like it is the last day we may see them.

God's timing is perfect - even in birth and in death.

Because we don't know when death will come, we need to live every day as if it were our last.

The end of our time of earth will come suddenly and we need to be ready.

Just as we don't know when we will die, we don't know when Christ will return. So we need to be ready all the time.

Matthew 24:44 "You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected." (NLT)

Focus: We can "say" we live every day as if it were our last or we can "truly" live every day as if it were our last.
