Always Looking for the Sweet Spot (and I don't mean the donut shop)

Wednesday, May 04, 2016

Sometimes I get really tired of logging every little thing. Logging my daily food and exercise isn't so bad because of all the nifty electronic trackers. But last month I was completely overwhelmed by the tracking at my gym and on my sparkteams that I had to take a step away from the computer. Don't get me wrong ... I am encouraged to see what and how much I am doing to move toward my goals and I love the support. But when I started feeling like I had to play catch up during computer time rather than reading articles, blogs or checking in on friends it took the fun out of it.

When I think about it, this fits into my other struggles, balance. I have been working on finding the right balance of foods to keep me satisfied. I am finding my sweet spot of exercise that is working to change my body. And too, I am struggling to find the right amount of time to spend on the computer versus all the other activities that I want or need to do each day.

What works for me might not work for someone else. We all have different priorities and those may change on a daily basis. Juggling life's daily needs requires us to find balance and flexibility and the awareness that every new day may require a new tweak.

I hear you! I think the important thing is to get a routine going that you like, and that you can commit to rain or shine, thick or thin (hopefully thin, I know). But that may be me and my reliance on routine to get through the day and stay on plan. Whatever you do, HAVE FUN!

Stop by the teams and say "Hi"! No need to log stuff if it doesn't work for you.

While I've missed you on our team, I understand the need to find your balance. When it reaches the point that it feels more like work and doesn't support your goals, sometimes you have to take a step back.

I struggle with this on the weekends, because leading the challenges requires me to post the new week's starting thread on Saturday...and sometimes I don't manage it until Sunday...because Saturdays and Sundays are ME time, and FAMILY time and FRIEND time and CHURCH time and SKATING time...and I just end up feeling stretched thin...and not in a good way! But I committed to leading the challenges, so I need to find a way to fit it into my life for the sake of those who are willing to participate.

Keep on taking care of you! emoticon
