Blood Pressure woes

To medicate or not to medicate? My blood pressure has always run a bit high as a baseline, by my last few doc visits it has been worse. Despite my young(ish) age, normal weight, healthy diet and decent fitness level, I have been diagnosed pre-hypertensive/bordering on full-blown hypertension. The doc didn't really know what to recommend, since I seem too young and healthy to need BP medication.
So, for now I'm monitoring my blood pressure daily and keeping a log. It seems like if I don't need to fix the "normal" problems (diet, exercise, weight), then medication might be my only option.
