Small missteps do not define the journey

Last week I wrote about the Great Ding Dong incident. Lol! I had an episode of emotional eating and ate a ton of crackers and two Ding Dongs when I wasn't even hungry. I exceeded my calories that day by 600-700. I was so annoyed with myself.
The next day I received a lot of encouragement from my wonderful SparkFriends and got back on track. Today on weigh-in day I registered a good loss. I was shocked. My one day did not cause a catastrophic weight gain. But this is because I didn't let that one day turn into two days, three days . . . I also stuck to my calorie range the rest of the week and logged a significant amount of exercise.
I truly believe the most important part of our journey is not giving up. We all will have bad days sometimes. We can't use them as an excuse to keep making unhealthy choices. As long as we forgive ourselves for the missteps and keep going we will eventually get to our goal.
