Bald eagle release - 4-24-16

Sunday, April 24, 2016

Tracy Bye got these photos of a bald eagle being released.

The eagle had been in rehab for 13 months for lead poisoning.

Even though it isn't rare to see a bald eagle in our area, it's STILL thrilling!

The lake I live at is on the edge of the Kansas City metro area, we occasionally see bald eagles around the lake in winter. I'm worried that as the metro area continues to expand the eagles will not stay around.

    What a thrill... indeed! emoticon
Our Bald Eagles are making a good come back along the high cliffs of Lake Ontario; not too far from where we live. They were hard hit by DDT, and we lost all of them. Now, after years of reintroducing them, we have at least 20 known pairs return each Spring to raise their chicks.... many more in other areas too. emoticon
