My Unexpected Absence

I have osteoarthritis in basically every major joint of my body. I've been taking Celebrex for years now with no problems at all. I ran out of my prescription last Saturday, but I thought I'd be okay since I knew I would be seeing the doctor Friday morning. I have to watch the amount of Advil I take because it does elevate my blood pressure. I also have to watch the amount of other pain meds I take, because I need to be able to function.

Last Sunday I woke up a little bit stiffer and my knees hurt more than usually.

Monday, it took me a little longer to get out of bed, and my knees, feet and ankles ached.

Tuesday it was my knees, feet, ankles, and hips.

Wednesday it was knees, feet, ankles, hips, and hands.

Thursday it was just about everything. Everything hurt. I have steps inside my apartment, and I have to use the steps to go up to the bathroom and to go down to the laundry. Thursday was not a good day.

Friday morning I went to the doctor, got my prescription refilled, with 6 refills. My BP was very high, and the doctor said it was most likely because of the amount of pain I was in. I left the doctor's, went to CVS, filled the prescriptions. Went home, took my meds, ate lunch, turned to look at DH and told him, "I'm going upstairs, taking a pain pill, and taking a nap." And I did, for 2 hours!

Yesterday I felt a little better, and today I actually felt the most normal in the past week. I was actually able to go downstairs to the basement to do laundry! Yay - clean clothes!!

So, for all of you folks out there who suffer from chronic conditions and take medication for them on a regular basis, don't do what I did and let your prescriptions lapse, and then think you'll be okay for a few days. Stay on top of them and your doctor appointments too. Lesson learned!!
