Whole Foods has a new feature called the Vegetable Advisor. Answer the questions and it gives you feedback as recommendations to add to your food intake. For me I was low in chromium, and the only recommendation was to add Sh**take Mushrooms. I know Chromium is important to regulate Blood sugars. I intend to add mushrooms to my pantry. Sorry when I tried to post, SP thought I was cussing
Stress is also know to raise blood sugars. Well all I can say it that since the 19th of March, my morning readings have exceeded the recommended range 9 times. I can honestly say I have not been managing my stress well.
Somewhere along the way what with the hospital visits, erratic schedules and sick hubby, I didn't hold on tight enough!
We did take a short road trip Saturday and Sunday to visit some very dear friends who are here in Arizona. It was very pleasant.
The news from Barrow's Institute wasn't as good as we expected, but it was still not bad. We have a care plan, emergency medical procedures in place, and a team of medical care providers who have agreed to work with Ashley in Omaha and report back to Barrows here in Phoenix. She will have an MRI every 6 months, and follow up here in Phoenix on an annual basis. The surgery risks outweighed the benefits due to her age. As she matures it will be re- evaluated. On a funny, ok not funny note. My daughter broke her hand and injured a tendon trying to decapitate the chocolate Easter bunny - No stress in this family at the moment- LOL
Children's Hospital had given Ashley a huge Chocolate Easter bunny. My daughter tried to break it up into pieces to share with every one. Not one of her better ideas.
So everyone returns to Nebraska the end of this week. I am going to BREATHE and enjoy the time with them. And I am going to try to hold fast to my Manifesto.
The WATCH WORD FOR APRIL is CONSISTENCY!. Day by Day, Inch by Inch. The plan is a good one. Just have faith that it will work for me.
I weighed this afternoon and weighed what I did last week. I have had a lapse in tracking food, so was pleased to see a neutral number. As I plan this weeks menu I will try to reduce the carbs a bit, and also commit to eliminating the night snacking. I won't tempt you all by confessing to what I have been snacking on. But I will report it on my food logs as I try to get them caught up.
Exercise. I did join the water aerobics classes last week and will be continuing them on Wednesdays and Fridays. I am also doing Physical Therapy on M,W,& Fri. I need to find the conversion table to report these as steps walked. I told my daughter I was doing well, but wasn't ready to take on a 5 K race. She replied " Well that is ok, you have never done a 5K".
I love her to death!!
So I will be doing the Lifestyle Cha Cha, more like a TANGO- for the next few days. I am going to enjoy my Granddaughter and my daughter. And be grateful for the many blessing that I have.
