A Tough Week

Thursday, March 24, 2016

I flew to IL on Saturday to spend some time with my Mom who has dementia. My brother and I came to the conclusion that it was time to move her to memory care and both of us were worried how'd she do. And on top of that worry I was anxious about being able to eat the way I'm used to and getting in my exercise.

Well the GREAT news is that Mom is dong GREAT! We brought her in on Tuesday around lunch time and the staff suggested we leave. I came back later and she was having dinner with three other women and had joined the walking club and met with other women to listen to music. She's already done more new things in three days than she's done in three years. the staff all tell us how pleasant she is and how she is fitting in and getting engaged.

And the other good news for me is that while I wasn't 100% on track with the food, I found time to exercise every day. Woke up early today and took a 30 minute walk in the dark! Wanted to be sure I got that in before I went to see Mom and then headed to the airport.

so all the worry was for naught. Which just proves to me again that worry is a waste of time.
Hope everyone had a good week.

So glad to hear about your mom. It gives me hope because my parents are at the very early stages of decline. It's so awesome that you found the time to exercise with all that is going on!!
