Update on Thyroid

Sunday, March 13, 2016

It has been a bit since i have posted. Here is an update on my wellness journey.

I have reverse T3 which means my thyroid is not converting t4 (the storage thyroid hormone) into t3 the active one I need. That is why I am hypo.

I also have adrenal fatigue (low cortisol in the day and high at night). This is what leads to my inflammation and also part of my fatigue and also part of my poor sleep. It is also one of the causes of my RT3 issue above.

I always have high ferritin which means high inflammation throughout my body. I will get a new blood test this week for that to see if improving.

I am on t3 only meds as well as lowered NDT
I am on Adrenal Cortex in the day and Holy Basil at night for my Adrenal issues
I am on a myriad of other supplements throughout the day.

I am starting to improve 1%, it takes time but at least now I know the issues so I can begin on my path.

I still have tons of hypo symptoms but in time I will be good again.

You might want to invest in a book called The Functional Approach to Hypothyroidism by Kenneth Blanchard. He maintains that the standard T3 prescription dosage is actually WAY too high. He says the lowest standard dose is 5 mcg, and many people should be taking something like 1.2 mcg. He recommends it in a time-release formulation as well.

I have to admit I only know about this theoretically, I'm not yet on any thyroid meds, though that's going to probably change next month when I'm going in for tests.

Take care of yourself! Knowing what's wrong - especially the interactions - is half the battle.

I know how you feel. I too have hypothyroidism. Have had since virth so am use to it. It's difficult to lose weight. Just take it a day at a time. It'll come off slowly but that's better for you. Good luck to us both.

Good thoughts coming your way. I have a friend who suffers from this, it's similar, and I know it's a struggle. I hope you do better everyday.
