This is harder than before

Last time I was here, I followed the Sparkpeople recommendations . . . in general. I wasn't very strict about the grams of fat, protein and carbs and if I was under or over a little on calories, I figured it would even out in the end.

This time I am following the DASH diet and really paying attention to my fat grams because my cholesterol and blood pressure are elevated. I am a carb and cheese eater. I've been staying away from cheese because the fat grams are so high. But two nights ago I had to add a protein and fat snack before bed. Last night I had to add fat at dinner to meet my goal.

I need to look at Sargento's thin slices of cheese, so I can enjoy a little without going over board. I also need to make sure I have more protein and lunch. I had a late meeting on Tuesday, so I got a subway sub. That was just too carb heavy with the bread and I had to balance it out with other items. Yesterday at lunch I had both pinto beans and corn, I should have had one or the other.

But I'm learning and I know someday I will be so used to these changes that I won't have to think so hard about them.

    I also tend to eat lots of cheese. My cholesterol is also elevated. From what I have read, some fats are still good, just not saturated fats or trans fats. I liked your blog because I'm learning too and I found it interesting.
