I Know It's Six Months Off, But...

Tuesday, March 08, 2016

I'll be going to Disneyland for the second time ever in my life! The first time was about 2 years ago. I weighed then about what I weigh now, perhaps a few pounds lighter, in the low 200s. As of this past Sunday's weigh-in, I was 214. If, and it's a big IF, I can lose 2 pounds per week between now and the Sunday before the trip, I will weigh in at 160, which is in the vicinity of my goal weight!

But it's a HUGE IF. You see, I tend to stall for a few weeks around 196 (which I should reach in about 8 weeks) and then again around 188. My last attempt to lose weight, I did not see below 188. But, it was going into fall when I reached that weight last time,

This time, we are heading into both Spring and Summer, times when eating nice, light foods is actually preferable! Plus, once I get my gardening in, I'll hopefully have plenty of fresh vegetables to work with. Gonna put in peas, peppers, tomatoes, brussels sprouts, and zucchini this year. Plus all the strawberries and blackberries I've got growing. I should be doing pretty well on not having to spend much on produce! I MIGHT even consider trying to put in some pumpkin, we'll see.

But, no matter how I look at it, I KNOW that I'll be at least 20-30 pounds lighter by the time of the trip, which is lighter than my last trip, so it's a win either way!

Now to not sabotage myself in the process. Better make sure I've got money for a new wardrobe, too, huh?

Thanks, ladies! Last time I actually quit (rather than not even getting off the ground) had much to do with illness then a pair of abdominal surgeries. I tend to drink flavored water (I put MiO in my water) and unsweetened tea. I gave up the soda and sugary latte habit years ago (though I still have some once in a while...which is all well and good as long as I don't get carried away on my chai tea lattes! LOL). I work in cheats so that I don't get crazy cravings and risk a binge. That's always so frustrating and hard to get back into the saddle after.

I lost nearly 40 pounds that time around (from 226 to 188) so I'm not going to give up so easily. Would I like to be at 160 by then? Yes, of course. Will I be super mad if I don't? No. I'll just get back on course when I get home and keep trekking.

And congrats to you for getting all that off, Jibbie49! And double for keeping it off!

When I joined Sparks 8 years ago I was at 214# and hated being so fat because I had to sit on a stool to wash dishes at the sink because my gut hurt my back so much, but I had told myself that I couldn't stay on a diet, but once I started tracking and weighing all my food, I had realized that I drank 1500 calories each day in milk, juice and soda. I stopped that after the first five days and began drinking only none calorie drinks using NuNatural brand Stevia that I got at the health food store as it doesn't have a nasty aftertaste. I managed to get down to 160 and I've stayed there in the 60s for a long, long time. I really want to get the rest of my fat off and not have it on my gut. So, I'd say you can do it, if you DON'T QUIT. I love going to Disney World. (went to Disneyland when we lived in California.)
