It's A New Day!
Tuesday, March 01, 2016
I've never been big on new years' resolutions. It's always been my belief that if you want to make a change, there's no reason to wait until January 1 right after you've gone through Thanksgiving and Christmas and partied all night celebrating the New Year. I am, however, a big proponent of 30 day challenges to challenge myself to do one thing new, or change one thing I dislike about myself.
I've done all different types. The hardest by far was giving up bread for 30 days. Man! That was harder than giving up red meat & I adored red meat when I had to give it up (the smell of pork now makes me nauseous...yes, pork is red meat...maybe I should say hooved meat to keep people from that reaction
). After that challenge, I found that I don't reach for it as often as I used to.
This morning I was walking my dog and thought about anything I'd like to change or do in March. How can I make my Spark Journey more effective during this new month? I thought back to my dinner last night while hanging out with friends (grilled chicken sandwich tossed in medium garlic and french fries). I then realized that every time I'm with my friends, I somehow wind up eating fried food. I never have fried food at home because we simply don't fry anything. So, my challenge this month...giving up obvious fried food (fried potatoes, fried cheese, fried wings, etc.). I say obvious because during my one hour commute to work this morning, I realized that tortilla chips and taco shells are fried, but they aren't obvious to me. Besides, it's TACO TUESDAY!
I can't go without a taco on Tuesday.
Maybe in April I'll give up all types of chips...I do have 31 days to think about it.
10/200 for the yearly challenge.
