Have you ever noticed that stress is a profound factor when dealing with issues in your life? Just when I am dealing with or concluding one issue in my life another seems to pop up and take its place. Eg. I am finally wrapping up taking care of the remains of my parents estate. I feel the weight leaving my shoulders. And then my sister emails me to say she is not coming to my son's wedding. She sys she doesn't have the same relationship with my son as she does with my daughter. On top of that he doesn't talk to her very often. they live in two different provinces and he has a job and new house. In addition he is doesn't have that kind of relationship with others that he contacts them often through social media. So stressful and my response could end my relationship with my sister. She is a rather volatile and blunt individual who feels that if her intent wasn't to hurt then you shouldn't be hurt!
I am beginning to see that it isn't really the event that is stressful it is how you react to the event. How to do that is the trick. I waited for a few weeks before responding to her email so that I could focus on what it was I wanted to say rather than a knee jerk response born out of hurt and anger. So I shall wait for her response and hope she does the same. The thing is- you cannot unring the bell can you?
So my plan currently is to continue to increase my activity level, eat nutritious food and do the best I can to stay calm and respond with thought and care. Hopefully this proves to be a workable solution.
