February has been... unusual.
Valentine's Day came and went with nothing more exciting than phone conversations with my remaining family members.
Then just this last Friday, I got an unexpected phone call from my STEP-Mother! She invited me to have lunch with her and her sister, my Aunt Betty on the following day, so I cancelled my plans to attend a little girl's baptism.
After all, I don't get to see family very often and they're 80 and 86 so...
It was nice. She gave me my Christmas present LOL... and a belated birthday card--with $10 in it! Going into my gas tank!
We haven't always seen eye-to-eye, especially at first, but we've both had 42 years to get used to being related this way-- and in the last few years before my Dad died, we've had some interesting and revealing conversations. She's loud and opinionated-- and she cares. And I've grown to appreciate her and love her for that, but I didn't know how she felt.
Yesterday on the birthday card she wrote, in a hand that has become spidery with age,
"Hope you had a very nice b-day, and I am real sorry this is late. I do love you very much, even though you don't think so. I realy do."
It was signed, "Love, Jeanette Braley"
Sweet day. I told her the feeling was mutual. LOL What a wonderful lunch. The fish and chips were good, the cole slaw a bit too dry, the tartar sauce too salty, and the hearts warmed to perfection.
I love February!...
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day, and that EVERY DAY is celebrated for the love...
