Goals and a bit about my life

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

I have a few minutes here so I decided to make a quick blog. i thought I would lay out some of what my health and diet goals are as I have been thinking alot about them lately.

1) Most importantly, I have a goal to feel better. I have been living in a high stress world lately and am trying to regain control of my emotions. I decided that cleaning up my diet and being more conscious of exercise would help so I cut out processed foods and as much sugar as possible while adding in large amounts of fruits and vegetables. We live outside of Hong Kong island a fishing village ...on a mountainside, and as we decided not to get a car, I get daily exercise walking to work and to the market but I am trying to up that with walking the dog more often (plus she needs the training).

2) I also want my skin to look better. Again with the stress, dehydration and poor diet, my skin was looking ruddy, not fresh and frankly older so I am hoping that my choices will help my skin to look better.

3) Weight. I have gained some weight but it is not out of hand ...yet. I saw it heading up however and decided to cut it off at the pass. I put that last on my list because I decided that if I work on the above two I am hoping weight loss will naturally come. Plus...honestly I am caring now more about how I feel and less about what the scale says.

So how is it going?

Well, in reverse order, I have stopped the weight gain and have maintained my weight in the last 10 days. My skin feels softer (but I also invested in a good moisturizer so that helped I am sure) and looks better. Most importiantly, I have felt more even and under control...less ruffled by things.

I cannot say that it is all due to diet and exercise (I have also been trying to get more sleep. I imagine that being conscious of it all and purposely being mindful of how I feel has helped as well. Anyway, I would like to try and blog about the changes as I go.

So...I have a few more minutes and I will elaborate upon where I live and what it is like. I do not live in the big tall city of Hong Kong downtown. (It is crazy there!) I live about 40 minutes away...still very populated but not with the tall buildings and the insane traffic of downtown. I live on the side of a mountain with the view of the water. Now that I have gotten over my fear of snakes...I've only seen one...and big spiders...seen alot but mostly in the jungley part of the area...I kind of like it. I walk to work down the mountain on a paved path through the woods/jungle passing by little villages here and there (not as quaint at it sounds...most of the village houses are not so pretty). I am happy to be surrounded by nature to look at even though we live on the second and third floor of a village house and rather than having a yard we have a roof top living area. This is how most people live here. You either live on the ground floor with a patio or garden or you live one and two floors up with a roof top area. It is pretty peaceful and safe here with lots of expats like us in our neighborhood.

The first picture is from the area where I live...the second is on Hong Kong island on Monday when we got our passports renewed.

Quin and Liam fishing at the pier in our area.

Have a great day!

You and your family have quite an amazing, adventurous life! Nourishing skin from the inside out is definitely the way to go. I've been trying to get some healthy fats into my diet because I heard that that helps. Sorry I've been absent from commenting on your blogs. I'm back to catching up on life and getting back on track. Wishing you and your family well.

I didn't like HK, but I loved many of the fishing villages up the coast. Every day is an adventure, isn't it? Sounds like you have your head wrapped around the right concepts and goals to get where you need to go!

Your commute to work sounds very peaceful! I walk to work a couple days a week, and like you, it's downhill to get there (then uphill back home, of course!) The perfect way to go!

Great to hear about your locale and lifestyle! emoticon
You and the kids look great.
I'm sure all the hill walking will be very healthy.
More freggies emoticon emoticon emoticon will help with hydration, which will help your skin & everything. Moisturizer, sleep and water will help too.
For a high-stress world, I have found nothing better than meditation.
    Be well. emoticon

Wonderful blog. I love the goals. The are well thought out but to the point. I agree on the weight front. I was thinking that this morning (a few minutes ago) when I got on the scale. I agree completely with your areas of focus and the rest will come.

It already has! Great job! Thanks for share more about where you live. You are so amazingly flexible and see the best in everything. The kids look very happy and well. Great to see that as well.

I adjust so happy to have you back with us. You got this. One day at a time. Hugs toy my friend!
