New job, new shoes

What more could you ask for in one week, I guess. The new job isn't really new. It's the exact same job, with a commute that is 26 miles shorter. I can remember when I would have thought a 26 mile commute was excessive, but now 41 is shorter. It has other advantages. I'm working closer to where my 'bookends' live (My oldest and youngest daughters share a house. The middle lives at home with me and mom). I'm also minutes from two trails I've been itching to put my bicycle on, so now I'm a tune-up and about 15 degrees from trying that out.
Everyone at my house re-joined a gym. We cancelled last time because no one was actually going to the gym. We'll see how that works out.
Number three daughter has, once again, invited me to participate in a 5K in Philly. Last time she bailed on me, but the training did lead to one of the best fitness improvements I've experienced and participation in a more local 5K. I'm going to approach it the same way. I'll be ready, and if she bails again, I'll go somewhere else without her.
New shoes. I never buy them often enough. I should know by now that, when my knees ache excessively, it's time to buy shoes. I always seem to learn the hard way. I was contemplating trips to the doctor and a rather painful injection, but I put the new shoes on this morning and, once the initial readjustment passed, my knees were improved to a dull ache, which is pretty much normal. At least I can walk normally again, and I've put away my emergency bad knee day cane.
So, my workout gear is in the car. I have a meeting that I expect to cause undesired tension to attend tonight, and a trip to the gym should be just the thing I need before heading home.
