almost one month in on low carb plan

Thursday, February 18, 2016

sunday will mark one month on the low carb atkins diet I am on. So far, I have lost 11 pounds, all of which was lost in the first 14 or so days. Now, for the last 2 weeks, I have been fluctuating the same 3 pounds over and over. It is very frustrating, since I weigh myself daily. Hopefully tomorrow when I weigh in the stall is over. If not, well, that's ok to. I feel a lot better on this diet and plan to continue on with it.

Stay the course and I'm confident you'll see the results you want. The scale is pretty much the worst measure of progress when you're trying to lose weight and get healthier, but it's objective, so we all kind of go with it.

I prefer looking for other signs of improvement or weight loss. I'm 58, so unfortunately weight loss on me doesn't always look that attractive. For instance, the turkey wattle under my chin is showing more lines and wrinkles lately, and my abdomen has rolls again instead of the Buddha belly, so I know I've lost some weight, but it's not something I want to take pictures of.

Congrats on ridding your body of those pounds. If it works for you, that's great but LC is not something I can stick with for life so I'm doing moderation. Keep up with the good work. emoticon emoticon

I'm sure you'll see a loss soon. I am trying something different that is working well. I am eating all 5 food groups at every meal (protein, dairy, vegetable, fruit, and grain). I'm sticking to between 1200 and 1350 calories per day and I'm making sure all of my nutrients are within the recommended amounts. I'm losing a little under 2 pounds per week. I started out just watching calories, but I had them set too low - at about 1000 to 1200 per day. As soon as I raised the calories and started balancing my meals, the pounds have started to come off more quickly, so I'm going to stick with this as long as it works. I am also walking an hour per day (about 3.5 miles) and if I stop losing weight, I'll try some resistance exercises because those build muscle and more muscle burns fat faster.

Good job! We all hit a snag and don't lose for a while but do not be discouraged. Sometimes you need to change up your exercise routine a bit. If you are not eating enough calories your BMR will drop as your body will think it is in starvation mode. Keep up the good work!
