Celebrating Valentine's Day has always been fun. Whether you are young and in love - or married for many years, it can be a romantic day.
Not only is there a romantic side of the sweet day, it can be a fun day to share with our children, grandchildren, etc. Drawing pictures of hearts or give candy hearts away...so much fun.
It is also a sad day for me. My father died 9 years ago, on Valentine's Day. So as the day approaches I immediately go back to the evening, sitting in the chapel of the hospital, making decisions on his end of life. I was the only family member in town, my mother deceased, so when to "pull the plug" and allow him to die away from the machines, was my decision. It is all a part of our life, we know that there may come a day that our beloved parents leave this life - into eternity. But it is not easy.
"Grief pours like water
Draining my heart and my soul
Leaving me empty..."
