Day 435 - Sparktitude

Sparktitude - my new word for gratitude the Spark way...

I had a great phone conversation with Jane today. I love talking to her - she always makes me laugh and her energy and positive belief is just infectious! I'm glad that the recovery from her knee surgery isn't keeping her from walking and inspiring the other guests at the care center!

My friendship with her, which is still relatively new, and with a few other people that I've met on Spark, just reminds me that there is something really special about this place. Our shared journey gives us a connection that we don't necessarily find in real life. And, interestingly, it's sometimes hard to convince our real-life friends to try Spark and discover all the great tools and guides to help them achieve the goals that we've been able to achieve for ourselves.

I love my SparkFriends, and I'm grateful for all of you every day. You inspire me and encourage me. I really wouldn't still be where I am without your continued support. I know that this is the time when I tend to fall back on old habits, but I'm counting on the new habit of exercise to keep me going every day.

So thank you all, and a special shoutout to a few of you who have been especially awesome over the past year. I couldn't have done this without you!

Keep Sparking, friends!

There is no explaining this experience to someone who hasn't done it! And the more you put in, the more you get out! Sparkitude is what that is...and the more connection one has here the more Sparkitude! Great word, Sparky!
Thank you for the blog and your friendship...have a wonderful week!

It goes both ways my friend - Sparkitude! I agree that I seem to get more than I give, but hopefully it is a close even. I have to totally agree about the comment about sliding back into old habits. I am finding myself doing it lately. Giving in to depression and eating when I am not even hungry. But what I have learned here at least makes me aware of what I am doing, and I know how to fix it now. And the support and motivation from SparkPeople is immeasurable! Thanks Steve for all you do!

  • no profile photo JEANNETTE59 it! To start with I am grateful for you and your heads-up, straightforward honesty. You possess a heart centered joy. And it is a gift that refuses to be contained and so it drives you to share. That is why so many of the replies to your blogs refer to your encouragement, your wisdom and your thoughtfulness.

Steve you are a Sparkitude emoticon

That is just awesome! You are a good friend and a positive force in my day. when I feel kind of down, I come here and read your blog and it perks me back up.

Oddly, you are right about convincing other people to join Sparkpeople. I have a nephew I am very worried about. He is 35 and weighs about 320. He is probably only about 5'8 or 9 so he is really in bad shape. He cannot find a job, lives with his mother and is depressed. I am paying for his membership at ATC but it hasn't really helped. I have tried to get him to check out Sparkpeople as there are folks on here in the same boat but he won't.

Anyway, it is an awesome Monday--have been to the gym and feeling good.

Sparkitude....the BEST word ever! You are my dear friend and I'm so happy to have you in my spark universe! I LOVE my spark friends..they are so real and so genuine and so encouraging and some who disagree with some of my 'out there' thoughts on things will offer their own thoughts but usually in a polite and respectful way.

I'm always open minded to out peoples outlooks. Everything is perspective in this world and I always love their input...who am I to think my way is the only way? NOT!

We need each other always...I share things with my sparky friends I'd never dream of with my fleshy friends...what's up with THAT?

Have a beautiful day...make it sparkling! emoticon emoticon

The Sparkitude is mutual. I start each day with a check in here and when my determination wavers, I am pulled back to my efforts to manage my weight. This is my way now, and you are a huge part of that and I watch for your thoughtful commentary.

I'm still relatively new to SP, but so pleased to have found a site with so much to offer. Steve, you've been a great support and I truly appreciate all your encouragement and friendship. It's great knowing I'm not doing this alone and that I am accountable to myself and others.
I plan on making this a great week... wishing the same for all Sparkers... Cheers!

My two best friends are people I met first here. The three of us managed to meet in person 2 years ago and we are planning another real life visit for April.

Good Morning Dear Steve: Yes the Spark friends are like no others. I think sometimes how close I feel to you and yet we have never met (in person). I know if (or should I say when???) we met we will hug and hug and just start talking non stop.

I feel this is such a special place too and have tried to get some friends interested but no they are not interested .. AT ALL. This saddens me but I have just moved on.

Thank you my friend for all your encouragement and words of wisdom. HUGS, Pat Love Sparktitude and will use it.:)
