The Real Deal

I've never been a big pancake person, except for the rare occasion of taking a trip to IHOP (I love their strawberry syrup, lol). Today, I made pancakes for the family, and watched my oldest daughter spread fruit spread on hers, instead of using the traditional syrup. I decided to give it a shot myself, only to learn that the combination tasted just like the flavors I had previously enjoyed at IHOP. I know this may not seem like a life-changing experience, but what this moment did was pull me out of the mindset of "tradition", and encouraged me to take a healthier look at how pancakes, or just food in general, can be made an eaten, without sacrificing any of the flavor. Needless to say, I was so very happy with my change that I may never go back to syrup, on those rare occasions I do decide to have a pancake or two. When I saw my calorie count, I momentarily questioned how could my ENTIRE meal be so low in calories, with me feeling so satiated?? But I was, and it felt so fantastic, I wanted to share. A healthy lifestyle change and better choices are some serious motivation to keep the momentum going, especially when you can still have pancakes with 0 regret! :-)
